and the more repulsed (or ‘distant’) you feel from someone,

-an observation, theory, metaphor...whatever you want to call it. I found it quite clever, and I can't help but wonder now if anyone else has EVER made this comparison before. That is, comparing how fast an object passes you depending on its physical distance, to how fast time goes by, depending on whether or not you're having a good time or in good company.
